Interesting ep!
Creepy Music - Used that once, played Teddybears Picnic while they were caught between Owlbears and Ghouls.
Missing/Replacement limbs - never done that one! great idea.
Reflections doing weird things - never done that one either! awesome.
Below are a list of things i've used, but you do each one or two times per Haunted house, moderation and timing is important...
- Doors and Windows that auto shut, Str DC 20 to stop. If you break the door or window then you get cut, wis dc 15 to stop staring at the blood
- NPC Contacts - either a different version of them are there, or the baddies have notes about that person and the horrible things that happened
- Recurring noises - dripping, shutters banging, scraping in the cellar, shuffling in the attic.
- Rest is hard - Short/Long rest resets abilities and you don't want that, so anyone trying to rest must make Wis DC 15 to clear there minds of the visions of horror that keep creeping in. You could let Prayer or Sanctuary remove this if you want to give them more of a chance.
- Spells that contact/travel to outside the area-don't work, caster get visions of loved ones death
- Spells that summon allies-allies do what you want but in a way that harm your party members
- Time distortion - someone walks through a room/jumps out the window, they are moving for 3 seconds, they feel like they are falling/walking for 3 hours but to everyone else they're gone for 1 hour.
- Voices - have someone with a whispery voice, or someone with a creepy voice (vincent price speech during Thriller or Riff Raff from Rocky Horror)
- Whats in a room before is not the same next time - when you leave a room the encounter and some of the contents changes.

This made me think of PT. That game is how to make a haunted house scary. Forever looping rooms, a ghost that toys with you before it's murder time, a creepy talking fetus in the bathroom sink. It also made me think of a specific scene from a PT teaser trailer. At one point, a door is blown off its hinges, where it hits the other side of the hallway so hard that embeds itself into the wall... after which it swings open to reveal a new hallway that wasn't there before. That seemed to fit perfectly with the idea of the layout of the house always changing. Very fun.

I'm really excited for this module mentioned on the podcast. However, I'm having trouble with the formatting of the pdf. There are columns and images missing!
Am I the only one?

I'm really excited for this module mentioned on the podcast. However, I'm having trouble with the formatting of the pdf. There are columns and images missing! Am I the only one? Everything seems to be good to go now in terms of the pictures. Where I was hosting them dropped them or did something weird, so hopefully they will stay. Which columns were missing? Not all the rooms have been filled out yet. Work in progress, plus wanted to leave some open for DM fiat. Working on some other guests to flesh it out more, and to work on it myself. Thank you for the feedback, and would love any additional that you may have!

Also, added a stat block and art to the Ichferschnick!

Wow, thank you DM Mitch and joatmoniac! Yeah, it must have been an issue with the image hosting. Everything appears to be in its proper place now. I don't remember which stat block it was, but one of them was off to the side and out of view.
And hey, you guys are awesome. I started listening last year around this time. With advice from the show I had a great halloween session and want to make a yearly tradition of it. I'm really excited about this haunted house! I'm not sure how I'll squeeze it into my campaign yet (They're working their way out of an Evil Dwarven Tomb carved into the belly of a gargantuan petrified worm...but maybe they pop out near it? Why not!) I'm already planning on using a whole bunch of these elements so far.

Awesome! If you run it I would love to hear how it goes, and what you added to it. Probably going to keep working on it to build it out more.

I had absolutely everything planned for our Sunday afternoon Pathfinder session on the 30th and then Friday night (the 28th) at about 10:00 I listen to this episode at work. Well. There went my carefully planned session. In between jobs on Saturday and into the early morning Sunday I changed everything, fit a haunted mansion into my campaign, and stole the map from the module. (Sadly, because I was fitting it into my story, I couldn't use anything else from the module because it didn't make sense in my world). However, I went back and re-listened to the first Halloween episode from 2014 (Spooky Scary Skeletons) and also re-listened to this episode and made an awesome night. We had so much fun. I used a bunch of the tips from the first Halloween episode: spooky snacks (baked in between looking through books and writing up stuff on Evernote), used candles and turned all the lights off, spooky music, I even had my mother-in-law come burst in on us in the middle of the campaign. To say the least, I am so glad I changed my plans and used so many tips from you guys. And besides, it means I didn't have to plan for the next session since I already had. Keep it up! And thanks!

I love that we messed up all of your plans with good content! The maps were redone versions of a mansions blueprints I found, and were given some Photoshop love by the amazing dmsam and his generosity!
