Second, I don't really see any problem with a guest from another podcast shouting out his or her podcast. Our friends from Tribality shout out their website all the time, and there have been no issues voiced regarding that. To me, it just felt more like a pitch, than a mere mention or shout-out. Just had a different vibe to it, that's all. Didn't turn me off in any way, it just stood out as different to me. In any case, if that's the worst thing to say about a podcast, then we're all in great shape! Agreed. I just want guests to feel welcome and free to contribute and mention their stuff. There was a definite tonal difference, as you note. We, as a community, have also done a great job sending the warm welcome out to past guests. I just want that trend to continue.

Yes, Definitely don't stop mentioning your own stuff. DD4D got a new listener here! Speaking of ideas from the episode, though, I really liked the god on trial story. Thought that was pretty cool (not that I trust MY players with the idea).

Yeah, the Divine episodes tend to cater more to the pregenerated world crowd. I love hearing how others build deities or cater deities for their world as I personally have done very little of that. I also agree that the community should be as welcoming as possible, but that open and honest discussion is still an amazing tool for both DM Mitch and DM Chris to adapt and change and keep making even more awesome content, no pressure guys!

Our friends from Tribality shout out their website all the time, and there have been no issues voiced regarding that. I have also really enjoyed the content put out by the RPG Academy, which I discovered through a mention on a DM's Block episode. I even started a thread in DM Resources call Recommended Listening, which is full of Podcast mentions, was well received and contributed to by many others on these forums. Focus on the content It wasn't so much that Tinzien was giving a shout out to his own show, that is totally fine and expected. It was that his content was lacking. To get the full break down of his content you had to go listen to his podcast. With the tribality guests they had a ton of content ready to share without even needing to go the tribality website. You could never go to tribality's site and still have gotten a ton of content from when those guests were on. Now, I think the next thing I kept from your quote is the key to this whole discussion. FOCUS ON THE CONTENT. Keep having guests, make sure they have great content to share, and keep the content flowing.

dm_mainprize, Thank you very much for your forward commentary and I would like to take a moment to reply. First off I'm not insulted in any way that you thought it was highly promotional, and from your perspective I can nod and agree with you. The issue on my part is that the podcast as a whole is one giant story and trying to pluck out a thread here and there is very difficult. If I had done a deep dive on the Empress or the Trial it would have taken perhaps the whole episode and just re-glossed what was related in the episode so it made sense to me to direct people to hear the episode in person so they could hear the players in real time reacting to events. I could have made that clearer. Whether or not you liked the episode, thanks you everyone who at least tried to listen to the episode!

Tinzien, Welcome! Yeah can totally see that perspective. You have just a portion of a 90-ish minute podcast to give a synopsis of what your story is about. There's no way you can give all the details. After all, that's what your podcast is for.

So glad you are here Tinzien even as a guest, I was hoping you would make an account and we could chat. It makes sense to cut out all the info for the sake of time, just your comment here has cleared it up a bit. I did like the episode and got ideas and inspiration from it. The idea of the green empress just being a creepy gal and kinda stalking the players is unsettling and definitely a twist on the way gods normally behave. Glad to have you here to continue this conversation!

I just started Death D4 (I'm on episode 5 and catching up). So far it is the best live play podcast I have listened to. They feel a lot like the Reckless Dice Podcast, but with the D&D rules system. Great job!

Great job! You are most kind indeed, and I will pass that along to the cast. HOWEVER, I must be fair to you in case you missed it in the episode -- you're about to hit a point with the episodes where the cast decides to throw out the formal D&D ruleset for a house ruleset that I make up (sometimes more consistently than the stories) as we go. The podcast becomes less about the rules and more about the characters who participate in these stories. If you are here for the rules, I hope this lets you down gently. If you are willing to overlook rules for story and fun, then I happily urge you to continue. There are different "generations" of the characters behaviors, etc as the episodes progress. In either case, thank you for checking us out.

Thank you for your comment and willingness to have a conversation all around. I'm glad my side was able to be presented for everyone to review while I took the time to consider what was posted to this point.

I'm more excited for the story then anything else anywho. Can't wait to catch up... It will take me a week or two.

I'll join the chorus is saying it is awesome to have you on the forums with us Tinzien. Especially with your willingness to have an open discourse, it is awesome to see. If someone were not quite as ambitious as Almariankinght about starting Death D4 Dishonor do you know of any good jumping on episode other than ep 1?
