So here is what I am thinking for a homebrewed Immortal race that I use as NPC's and might let one of my PC's play in the near future. They are called the Brae'Mere and are a part of an Immortal race that has now been split into three different groups. They originally started out as a single race early on in my time line. But thanks to a gift from a dark (evil) god, the race has been split into three. The Brae'Mere are a nomadic catfolk civilization. Wandering from place to place following game, food, and shelter. The cool thing about this race is that they can shapeshift into large predatory cats. This ability was granted to them when they made the choice to not align themselves with the evil portion of their race (the Grae'Mere). So here is my thoughts on how I want to run the race as a potential PC race. I used the base of the elven race and then added a few things to make the char fit what we had envisioned. Let me know what you guys think. I want to make this as balanced as possible. I gave the race a -1 to str to start out to hopefully off-set their ability to shape-shift a little. Other than that they are fairly identical to the Elf racial build.
Brae'Mere -
Ability Score Increase - Dex +2, Str -1
Age: While the Brae'Mere do age, it is not known how old the eldest of their race are. Some have personally spoken of events that took place before known history was recorded. This suggests that whatever their lifespan is, it is longer than any other known race.
Alignment: The Brae'Mere follow strict tenets about their actions. They believe in leaving behind a better world through their actions and through their teachings. Everything they do is in one way or another good and for the betterment of society/culture/civilization.
Size: The Brae'Mere can range anywhere from over 4 feet to just under 7 feet tall. Their size is Medium.
Speed: The Brae'Mere have two different speeds thanks to their ability to shape shift into their predatory cat form. Their base landspeed in Humanoid form is 30', once they change into cat-form that speed is now boosted to 60'.
Brae'Mere Weapon Training: The Brae'Mere are masters of both bows and long-knifes. All Brae'Mere's are proficient with longbows and long-knifes (short-sword profile). A Brae'Mere can also wield their long-knifes with great ease, allowing them to wield and attack with a knife in each hand. This ability grants them the effects of the Dual Wielder feat.
Darkvision: The eyes of a Brae'Mere are unmatched when it comes to discerning details in the lowest levels of light. Their cat like eyes give them the ability to see in dim light for 60 feet as if it were daylight. They can even see in complete darkness as if it were dim light. While stalking around in the dark the Brae'Mere can only see in shades of grey.
Keen Senses: The Brae'Mere are world renown trackers and hunters. Their ability to follow both prey and enemies can only be rivaled by the most elite trackers of Elven heritage. All Brae'Mere are proficient in the Perception skill.
Languages: The Brae'Mere are able to speak Common and their ancestral tribal language. As bonus languages Brae'Mere often learn the languages of the races they visit. This came about because as time went on the tribe eventually sent out Diplomats and Emissaries to other cultures, to learn about them as well as teach other races about the Brae'Mere and their evil cousins the Grae'Mere.
Shapeshift (Supernatural): The Brae'Mere are able to change freely between their humanoid form and cat form. The only restrictions on this is that they can perform this more often the stronger the become. The elders of this race seem to be able to stay in catform for as long as they like, as well as change back and forth at whim as much as they like. Starting at Level 1 Brae'Mere can shapeshift 1/per day. As they progress in levels this number increases to 5 times a day at level 20.
1 - 4 = 1/per day
5 - 8 = 2/per day
9 - 12 = 3/per day
13 - 16 = 4/per day
17 - 20 = 5/per day
