Need any ideas to creep out your players, using giant insects? Here are some general ideas.
1. Necromancy wasp (Based on Real Life Voodoo Wasp)
Called such because they sting targets to paralyze them, and then inject them with eggs. Eggs then hatch and hijack their host's mind. Said mind-stolen person stumbles around like a zombie, due to clumsy controls over humanoid motor skills(Hence the name.) attacking all who get too close, for the sake of their wasp-larvae parasites. Players can note squirming masses just beneath the skin, and the infested make hissing noises (Hint to players they could hear a voice, if they roll for listen, they hear 'Run away.' 'Help me.' Etc.
2. Marionette Spider (Reference to Real Life Decoy Spider.)
These spiders hide in areas where vision is somewhat hindered, they favor hunting during somewhat dark times or foggy areas. While their real life counterpart makes decoys of itself to confuse predators, Marionettes are intelligent enough to remove the attire of their prey before feeding, and spin mannequins with their webs, dressing these decoys with mismatched attire of previous victims. This decoy fully flexible, capable of waving their arms to beckon new victims forth.
3. Queen Assassin (Assassin bugs that wear ant corpses as a disguise. Can't recall their name, will edit it in, later.)
These assassin bugs typically just lie upon the ground with a mound of ant-bodies stacked upon themselves, to appear as a swarm of ants heavily guarding a food item (Nobody wants to mess with ants, let alone ones protecting food.) but these ones (Not IRL ones.) use these ant bodies to disguise themselves as just another ant with the use of their residual pheromones, sneaking into the hives to devour the queen(s)
4. Nova Blast Ants (Kamikaze Ants.)
Large, cat-sized ants of a pale-white coloring with large pockets of what appears to be a blue, glowing substance along their sides. Peaceful species, and rely heavily on biting if feeling threatened. But if biting doesn't ward off the predator, they explode, sending acid in every which direction.
(Running blank at the moment, but know that I definitely have more.)
