P-)Pissing off "technical 'min-maxing' type(s)" sounds like a strong argument in favor of any house rule. THIS!! I hate min/maxers (aka: "Optimizers"). To me, I have an idea of where I want my PC to go, but the events of the adventure and things that happen, should shape the character. These are living, breathing, characters. They have hopes and ambitions, but if events in their lives move them left, when I figured to go right, then so be it. I'm not going to multiclass the $hit outta something just to get the best damage-dealing possible.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! I am terrible, TERRIBLE! at puzzles and riddles. I know they are a huge void in how I run a campaign, but my mind just doesn't work that way. I'm great with story and unusual/surprising encounters, but I don't think I've ever used a riddle or puzzle to challenge my players. Speaking of which, if anyone knows a good D&D puzzle resource, I'm all ears!

P-)Pissing off "technical 'min-maxing' type(s)" sounds like a strong argument in favor of any house rule. this is true and i no longer have any of those types of players in my regular group. Probably because i am a very story oriented DM and my players see combat maybe every 3 sessions we tend to award xp based on problem solving and roleplay. not to say either play style is right or wrong this is just what my current group has fun focusing on. i spend way more time working on story rather than encounters. and most of our encounters recently have been more free form "theater of the mind" type combat to expedite the process.

Another one I thought of is syrinscape.com it is a program to have sound in your games. It does background music or noises or pretty much anything you can think of. If you subscribe to it you gain access to their entire catalogue, which is quite extensive. It can also be ran through an app, which is how I do it so it doesn't tie up my laptop during games.

Holy crap! The quality of the layout on that fan-made supplement is astounding. I had to double check that it was in fact fan-made. Definitely going to go over that a few times and see about adding it in, because I love alchemy in my fantasy settings. As for that there Kicksatareter, that escalates qyickly, haha. It appears to be an awesome product, but far too rich for my blood.

Ya dwarven forge stuff is really lovely and would definitely be a sweet thing to bring to the table. But it is beyond my budget thats for sure.
