These are all old words from norse and germanic that the world Guild spawned out of. Cool Right! This weeks episode was all about guild and factions with MTG. So lets put our heads together and come up with a guild for Dayiembe. I will use the same template as the Bard college as it has lots of options to filled out! But the type of guild will be chosen by you guys! So cast your vote and over the weekend we will lock in exactly the kind of guild we want to make. Then on monday I will post the format and we can go crazy with collaboration! So cast a vote and help make guilds great again!
1. Guild Name: The Northwood Logging Association aka "The Whistle Punks"
1a. Short description - The Guild was actually created by a group of druids, secretly, to preserve the forest. They knew they weren't powerful enough to outright stop the Lumber Jacks, so they sought instead to control them, make sure they logged sustainably, and focus their efforts away from particularly sensitive groves. They made sure the public aspects of the guild would appeal to the stereotypical lumberjacks "Chop wood, make money, don't get killed by monsters". Note that these are not the druids Baul Panyon Encountered. Perhaps the Guild leader is one of these druids, and he seeks out a suitable replacement and secretly trains his replacement to become a druid himself. The Druid could have also used wood-shape or other spells on the competitor's products to ruin them during the early days of guild, ensuring the success of the guild. - Athikin
2. Goals:
Chop Wood, Make Money, Don't get killed by monsters.
(this is what they tell the newcomers, exactly in that order.) - gmsamuel
3. Motto:
"When a tree falls in the woods, we are the ones who hear it." - galakan
4. Beliefs:
5. Typical Quests
5a. A group of non-guild-sanctioned lumberjacks is chopping wood outside of the guild's direction and without paying dues. Their logging is not sustainable and they are undercutting guild prices. They need to be stopped. - rorrick
Perhaps they have a part of their guild that functions independently of the leadership that commits sabotage on their competitors. By separating it from the leadership the leaders could truthfully claim,"I HAD NO PART OF THIS!" they could be some sort of mysterious group that everyone knows exists, but that everyone denies the existence of. - gmsamuel
This could lead to a whole lumberjack campaign where you try to oust the corruption from the ranks.
Also, is it bad that when I thought of a corrupted lumberjack all that came to mind was a person whose beard showed signs of evil? I don't even know what that would look like, but I just keep thinking back to it. - galakan
5b. Being quite skilled woodsmen, the Lumberjacks guild "often" gets tasked with ridding the forests of corrupted trees, treeants, etc.
They may look for adventurers to take part of it as protection detail, but most of the time the lumberjacks are able to take care of themselves. - frohtastic
5c. Recurring Quest: Negotiate (or renegotiate) deals with local druidic circles for the logging of forests. Many druidic circles prefer "untamed" wilderness and object to the regimented, planned forests planted by the guild. Others simply want concessions. A few can even be convinced to protect the guild's planned forests. - retsamnoegnud

6. Guild Iconography or Symbol
7. Initiation/Promotion ritual
7a. Initiates are sent out with just a wolf/direwolf (as a guard) to bring back the biggest tree they can muster. They have to fell the tree, prepare it for transport, drag it back and treat the wood\ within 2 days, without getting killed. The tree will be judged by the heads of the guild and if large enough the initiate will be accepted into the guild. - wilvyn
7b.
8. Guild Hierarchy
8a. (lowest rank) "haulers" and their job will be to drag logs. This position will be held by teenagers that prove too reckless to be trusted with an ax, and people joining the guild with no previous experience. -gmsamuel
8b. (low rank)
8c. (mid rank)
. (higher rank)
8e. (highest rank)
9. Guild Reputation
The guild is famed for its dedication to all facets of lumberjacking. Guild lumberjacks are remowned for their skill at both harvesting and treating lumber. Their dedication to their chosen craft is seconded only by their obsession with facial hair; members growing and grooming their beards with an obsession that even dwarves find hard to match. - dmgenisisect

11. Famous Lumberjack 1
Name: Bahl Panyon.
Story: Bahl Panyon was known for being 8 feet tall, wearing checked direboar skin, having a huge beard, and chopping down trees. He is known for using his diplomatic skills on a group of druids that frowned on the practice of tree cutting. He told them,"Man is from nature, and now they conquer nature. We will always rise above nature, this thing you seek to protect. We will always rule over nature, and this is a natural thing." Although this did not convince the druids, the idea that people were just a developed part of nature was something they found profoundly disturbing. As a result they decided to leave the woods and protect some area where they did not have to deal with an 8 foot tall guy who wore a shirt made of checkered dire boar hide. - gmsamuel
12. Famous Lumberjack 2
Name: Phit Spurlocket
Story: Phit was an anomaly among the lumberjack's guild; no one really thought the gnome who showed up asking to be admitted was serious. But they gave him the test all the same, and were shocked when he refused the traditional protection/escort. The next morning, he returned with not one tree, but three, in an invention of his own devising: a mechanical spider with bladed limbs capable of both felling and transporting trees. He was admitted, but since his methods would quickly outstrip sustainability, the guild actually pays Phit to NOT produce any more of his "Spiderjacks." - retsamnoegnud
