Hey guys,
I have been building a world for quite some time now and I thought I would share at least part of it with you guys!
I could go on and on about everything in the world, but I think it would be better to give it to you guys peace-meal so I don't overwhelm you with stuff right off the bat. First off is just an explanation of the kingdom itself and its various provinces.
The Kingdom Of Lyrentia
Map: imgur.com/8jdGYJP - it's kinda big so here's a link. There's still some things I need to add to it, but this is good enough for now.
History:
Eons ago in an age before remembering, there was a vast Empire. Its fingers stretched across everywhere the Gods could touch, and yet now there remains but whispers of their greatness. It is said that the leaders of the Empire touched upon a power not meant for mortals and unleashed a cataclysm the likes of which had not been since since the Creation. In an effort to save all they could, the High Mages created a construct simply called The Gate. It alone holds back the force of this power and protects the only land still known this day: Lyrentia.
Politics and Regions
Anyway, I will likely have many more of these posts, giving you pieces of my lore as I go. If you guys would rather me give you everything all at once just let me know.
Side note: A lot of this was written years ago, so if any of it sounds like nonsense please let me know. Much of what I have written is kinda jumbled in my head so I tend to miss little things.

Politics and Regions
- Valcliff: This is the seat of the royal family. The ancient city of Valcliff is home to one of only two still usable buildings made by the Empire, the Spire of the Claw. The kings of Lyrentia have turned the porcelain colored tower into the most formidable fortress in the land. Law and trade here is at its most pure, as the city operates only under the King's laws and no one else's. Currently the king is a young man named Vattin Lyrentos. He is an only child whose first heir is about to be brought into this world.
- The Black Watch: Over the years the royal family has learned to let the local provinces manage their own people and that they should stay relatively hands off. That said, they have created a standing army called The Black Watch who maintain fortresses all throughout each of the provinces and keep the King's law. This is also the group tasked with guarding The Gate and fighting off forces of chaos that occasionally seep through its protective barriers. Members of the Watch swear an oath that binds their lives to servitude, and those that break it are sought out and executed. (drew some inspiration from Game of Thrones here...granted this was back when all we had were the books).
- Hallamanth: Right smack dab in the middle of the kingdom lies the oldest of the provinces: Hallamanth. This middle province is the bread basket of the nation, hosting a temperate climate and enough farms to literally feed an army...or ten. Old family ties and a bureaucratic mess of nobles are what keep this area running. All too often, a nobleman will create their own militia and strike down their neighbor just to gain more farmland or some other resource they needed at the time. It is said that the Hallamont family, and the sheer weight their name carries, is the only thing that keeps this province from degenerating into a madhouse.
- Kiranth: "Hard lands for hard people" is the motto for the Kiranthians. Amongst the frigid tendrils of the Alban Ridge mountains, Kiranth began as a several warring clans. Eventually the Mattion family and their clan defeated the others and gave the province its name. In a slew of wars that are now forgotten, Kiranth became a province of the Lyrentians. The world's strongest metals are shipped out of here and used to trade for essentials to help people survive the harsh winters.
- Delver: Every family has a problem child, and in the case of Lyrentia, Delver would be it. It has only been one hundred years since the Treaty of Lockwood which made this area a province. This means that it has been roughly long enough for people to be content with their current situation, but not so long as to forget what they had. As such, the people of Delver carry a certain pride about them. It is not uncommon for a border town to rise up and poke at the Lyrentians, only to have the nobles of Montral denounce everything once the uprising has been quelled. Weather in Delver is dry and warm except in winter, when monsoons pelt the countryside as if guided by a divine hand.
