So, I loved this episode, I've been interested in having a Commoner character and this episode just makes me want to play one even more!

Story time
Really enjoyed hearing about the extra lengths the players will go through knowing something that would usually not even be a real issue could potentially be a momentous task.
The Meat
More ways to bring commoners (and cats) into your party than you can shake a Sickle at! If you (or you players) don't want to play as a commoner in your next game there might be something wrong with you; personally I'd like to play a halfling commoner that riders a dire house cat!
Mailbag of Holding
An email from GM Samuel about playing with his younger brothers, while I am no expert on gaming with younger people, I can point you in the direction of RPG GamerDad who has a podcast talking about his experience gaming with his kids; and interviews people in the industry about RPG stuff, the main reason that I bring him up is because he has recently released an RPG for kids which he talks about in an article on the Mad Adventurers page, the article states that it is free from his page (I'm just double checking with him that it is still available for free as his page just says 'donation'). The RPG GamerKids RPG is built to be simple and fairly adaptable, there are a few example characters and from there creating a character that your players want *Cough*Squirrel folk*Cough* shouldn't be too hard, the 'powers' that the characters have are vague enough that you can use them in or out of battle and can be used for a variety of different uses. Alternatively you could try and get them playing a more story/roleplay focused game I know RPG GamerDad does Rory's Story cubes with his kids and while not quite D&D playing something that isn't D&D might allow you to enjoy a story world a bit more to their liking than trying to create a world for them in D&D.
Right now I'm going to have a look behind my sofa (couch to all of you over the pond) to see if I can find enough to get the Adequate Commoner book
Edit: Additionally, I've just opened my 3.5 DMG and found a book mark at the commoner class page, and I am disappointed to see that there isn't a Commoner class in the 5e DMG
