I would like to say hello and thank you to the DM's Block. I found the Podcast when I was looking at starting up a new DnD campaign. I was cleaning out a bedroom and remembered all of my 3.5 books I had stored there when my daughter was born and thought to myself, "self, now may be the time to turn my sporty, funny, and smart daughter into a true roleplaying geek." See my daughter is an only child like I was and she is 8. I started playing DnD when I was 8 with the red boxed set an aunt got me back in 1980. Of course it was just me and a friend and we rolled up characters and just "fought" monsters, no real roleplaying, until I joined a group that an older kid was DMing and then I knew this was the best game ever. I want to try to recreate that love in my daughter.
So a little about me. I'm Older, unless you ask my wife (she thinks I still act like a kid), and I work as a wine sales manager. I have played every game out there and still love DnD. The last time I played or ran a game was over 12 years ago before I got married and it was 3.5 rules, and rules and more rules. So I looked up the 5ed rules and now I'm off to the races.
If you have any questions about Wine, beer, mead ect, just ask I can give you in depth info for your worlds and explain micro climates, juice, or any part of the process. I have also had my own business, in the pet trade.
I try to make my Worlds in DnD realistic and fun. So I love to world build, and spend way to much time thinking and researching weather, and ecosystems. Then I build a map with just the basics of Coasts, mountains, plains rivers ect. after that I will put in the Major Cities and a few small towns. I figure out where the wilderness will be and basic borders, and where the players will start and then build a bit more info around that area. Then start the story line.
Thanks
