I don't have any Spelljammer or Starfinder campaigns so I don't have any use for this notion.
The film Alien 3 had 4-5 unproduced scripts created during its production. It ended up being filmed without a script, by-and-large.
One of the middle versions was to be directed by Vincent Ward. It was to take place on a derelict monastery adrift in space populated by an exiled religious sect.
Here are some production drawings from its development.
Alien Past
The entire satellite / monastery was to be made of wood. Its atmosphere was dependent on the farming and recycling activities of the agrarian monks.
All technology was banned, as the luddite monks were exiled from Earth for resisting Weyland-Yutani corporate domination.
The story began when Ripley's escape pod crash-landed on the satellite.
Many of the elements remained into the film produced as Alien 3. The monks operated a glassworks (I think to repair a dome), were governed by a single Abbott/Authority, and were placed on the satellite with the expectation that oxygen would run out and they'd just expire.
You can read the entire script online and learn more about the wealth of un-developed ideas that never made it on the screen. William Gibson even wrote an earlier version of the script.
Vincent Ward Alien 3
I struggle in sci-fi settings with how to bridge the high-science concepts of space to the sword-and-sorcery intended for the game.
This setting would make a good bottle session (ha) or location for a religious sect in your world.
For what its worth, the best xenomorph stand-in within D&D are the Slaad, interdimensional amphibians who reproduce by seeding other intelligent life-- definitely inspired by Alien franchise.
If you are getting really fancy and want to work in mindflayers, perhaps the monks are pacifist Illithid who become infected by Slaad (Slaad born from hyperintelligent magic users are extra bad).
Enjoy!
