Older episode, was not seeing a thread for it though...
In response to a DM help thread, I was reading through the 3.5 supplement "Heroes of Battle" (which is AWESOME for any wartime or battlefield campaign, regardless of edition or even RPG) and it has a section outlining how to detail an entire army in just an hour. I was thinking that some random tables could quickly add some flavor to "just another platoon" on a massive battlefield
1d6 - what type of platoon is it? 1 - Green (roll with disadvantage or at -2 in combat until they, as a unit, get a few kills) 2, 3, 4 - Standard unit 5 - High Morale (roll with advantage or +2 until a few of the unit die) 6 - Veteran troops (add a Hit Dice and +2 attack)

I was inspired by this episode to create a table to use when creating gods and goddesses from scratch. Basically, I figure out what the god is in charge of by rolling a d% a few times before determining gender and letting that provide the inspiration for the rest. In the link the process created a chaotic good halfling god of death, agriculture, and the sun named Vaarti Wisesword.
