Ok, watched ep. 1 of Daredevil. Seems good, I'll keep watching it. I watched through about 50% of ep. 4, AND I AM HOOKED! This is simply an amazing series. I could gush for days, but instead I'm just going to call out that fight scene at the end of ep. 2. One of the best fight scenes ever! I love how he gets tired and winded, how he gets hit, how his opponents just keep getting back up. Normally in super hero and action movies, there's a lot of "one-hits"; hero punches enemy in the face once, enemy goes unconscious, doesn't wake up, rinse, repeat. So true, that made the fight so real, and I think I mentioned this already but I loved how much of the fight we didn't see. Such a great tension builder to have a very injured DD dive into a room and hear the scuffling but not know who was getting the better of who, and a great way to make us the audience blind, which is what DD is. They also didn't show him rescue the kid, we only got to hear that interaction, which was beautiful. That sequence was just so well done, the fighting, the use and none use of what we saw and heard. Who ever directed that episode has some serious talent and vision.

There's a term used in visual art: chiaroscuro. This refers to the treatment of light and shadow; usually associated with high contrast and the creative placement of shadow (like having a speaking character's face obscured by shadow). If you've ever read the Sin City comics by Frank Miller (or seen the movies I guess) then you have some idea of how this can be used. This visual style is also associated with film noir.
The Daredevil cinematographers make great use of shadow and light in their shots. To me, the combined effect has aspects of traditional super hero movies, gritty crime series (think early Law & Order: SVU), and film noir detective films.
Oh, and the casting of Kingpin...so dead on.

Finish ep 4, it gets crazy. Also, I can honestly say that that is not the best fight sequence in the series. Almost done myself! I am pretty sad that we will have to wait so long for the next series.

I had to stop...it was 12:30, everyone in my house has the stomach flue (except me *knocks on wood*) so we're all exhausted, and I had to be up at 5:45 this morning... No worries though, I'll be finishing it tonight

I just watched the opening to episode 8. Brilliant. Favorite part to the show so far.
