My ice imps are a work in progress. Haven't finalized then yet, but I plan to for next Christmas.
I ran a one-shot that occurred during a winter solstice festival. I needed a minion to help the villain escape. The Boss was essentially a bheur hag with a couple of tweaks, and her main henchman was an animated snowman. I needed the snowman to get away from the festival, so to help him, the bheur hag sent henchman to cover the snowman's retreat.
I was thinking along the lines of an alpine version of a leprechaun or brownie from 1e. The main thing they were going to do here was throw snowballs from the edge of the forest. These are magically enhanced snowballs, of course, so I gave them a range of 120' with no long range modifier, and a +8 to hit. They have +8 because they don't actually have to penetrate any armor. When they hit, they always hit around the target's head and shoulders, and all they do is give the target disadvantage for anything they might do on their next turn while the target flinches or has to wipe slush out of his/her eyes. However, every 4th snowball has a rock in it that in addition to the 'disadvantage' effect, also hits for 1d4 bludgeoning damage.
What do you think? How would you flesh these guys out? I'm not real happy with the name, either, but it's all I could come up with at the time. Any suggestions?
I'm hoping to have this adventure play tested a couple of more times, and be ready to post at DMs Guild for next Christmas.
Thanks!
