DM-Nastics #83: Backstory Bonanza!

Can you tell where I have gotten to in the podcast backlog? Got to this episode and loved it, simply because I love creating backstories to characters. Here's my take on one that was posted already. I tried leaving things a little ambiguous, but things should be fairly obvious. I hope you all enjoy!

1. What is this character’s name?
Alyvia Elionara

2. How old is this character?
41

3. What would somebody notice at first glance (i.e. height, weight, skin color, eye color, hair color, physique, race, and visible equipment)?
Alyvia's silver-blue hair, inherited from her elvish father, stands out among the browns and greens of her preferred surroundings and garb.  She retains her human mother's emerald green eyes which are a great contrast to her hair, which always reminded her of the color of leaves on the canopy of trees near her home when the sun would filter through at the right time of day.

4. What additional attributes would be noticed upon meeting this character (i.e. Speech, mannerisms)?
To this day, she will stop and look up toward the forest ceiling whenever it is nearing sunset, thinking of her mother who passed over a decade previous.  She tends to keep to herself during these times, but is otherwise a bubbly individual with a love for life.  Unfortunately she can be blunt at times, and has pushed people away due to her honesty.

5. Where was your character born? Where were you raised? By who?
Alyvia was born in a small human village on the outskirts of an elven kingdom.  Her father had met her mother on the way through the town and was transfixed by her eyes the moment he met her.  He found excuses to come and visit her often, eventually taking her as his wife and giving birth to Alyvia and four siblings, Alyvia being the oldest.

6. Who are your parents? Are they alive? What do they do for a living?
Her mother's name was Jessia Strongfield and her father's name was Fe'arin Elionara.  Her mother passed away over a decade ago to natural causes.  She was a simple farmer in her village while her father was a scholar of sorts, constantly looking for more books and more knowledge.  After marrying Jessia, he settled down on the farm and helped out where he could while keeping up with his studies.

7. Do they have any other family or friends?
She has 2 younger sisters and 2 younger brothers.  Since she has left town on her calling, she had lost contact with her family, last hearing that her father had left the rest of the family in charge of the farm while he went to one of the larger cities to investigate something mysterious.

8. What is this character’s marital status? Kids?
Alyvia has not had a chance to settle down.  She had caught the eye of many in the past, but hadn't had the mind to stray from her current duty.  That, combined with the ability to push others away without trying, has left her alone for longer than she wished.

9. What is this character’s moral code?
She will always strive to protect those in need.  She will try to work within the confines of the law, but sometimes using her abilities to bypass certain rules is necessary for the greater good.

10. Does this character have goals?
If so, what are they?
Her goal is to investigate a magical blight that has been showing up in seemingly random places throughout the world.  Sometimes it will show up and disappear before much harm is done to the forests.  Other times it will cause some major devastation.  It's her goal to figure it out and stop it, as it has almost an intelligent pattern to it.

11. Is this character religious?
Yes, but only to the deity of nature.

12. What are this character’s personal beliefs?
Nature isn't as unpredictable as most people believe.  It's a combination of flora and fauna that mix together in predictable ways.  She sees the world as a series of formulas that equal to the natural order of things, something she picked up from her father.

13. Does this character have any personality quirks (i.e. anti-social, arrogant, optimistic, paranoid)?
She tends to push others away in her pursuit of her goals, but finds good company in the animals of the forests.  She isn't averse to spending time with others in the world, she actually craves it, but something inside her keeps her from forming and maintaining those long term relationships.

14. Why does this character adventure?
In the pursuit of knowledge to save the forests from something that only she seems to believe is a cause for concern.

15. How does this character view his/her role as an adventurer?
A necessity that no others have been convinced is a noble cause... at least yet.

16. Does this character have any distinguishing marks (birth-marks, scars, deformities)?
None worth mentioning.

17. How does this character get along with others?
She loves other people, even craves the attention of others, but she tends to push them away before they get too close and she's not sure why.

18. Is there anything that this character hates?
This character loathes those who exploit nature for their own benefit.  She will fight as fiercely as a mother bear protecting her young when she sees an injustice to the wilds.

19. Is there anything that this character fears?
She fears living her life alone, and never finding someone to assist her on her personal mission, let alone finding someone to grow old with, like her mother had found.
