I'm currently having a board game obsession and I was wondering as we all play the traditional version of D&D if anyone had played the board game versions and what they thought! eg. Legend of Drizzt Board Game, Wrath of Ashardalon: Board Game, Temple of Elemental Evil Board Game, Castle Ravenloft Board Game and the Tyrants of The Underdark Board Game. (plus any others I haven't mentioned/haven't heard of) If not for anything else I'm pretty sure at least some of you probably have at least one for the mini's and boards

Your last sentence is 100% correct for me anyways. I haven't played them, but would love to given the chance. The other one that this made me think of that i have played a ton of is Dungeon. Which I feel like has seen a recent remake, but I can't remember.

Yes I have, they are a cut down version of 4th edition, with cards to show abilities of class/races/items/monsters.
4th is good if you've played multiplayer games online such as world of warcraft or guild wars, but if you've started with 5th then 4th MAY seem clunky
whether you use the game rules in those box sets or not, there are a ton of miniatures and floor tiles in every set you can use for your regular D&D games.
wikipedia says... - Castle Ravenloft Board Game includes 40 plastic heroes and monsters, 13 sheets of interlocking cardstock dungeon tiles, 200 encounter and treasure cards, a rulebook, a scenario book, and a 20-sided die. - Wrath of Ashardalon includes 42 plastic heroes and monsters, 13 sheets of interlocking cardstock dungeon tiles, 200 encounter and treasure cards, a rulebook, a scenario book, and a 20-sided die. - The Legend of Drizzt includes 42 plastic heroes and monsters, 13 sheets of interlocking cardstock dungeon tiles, 200 encounter and treasure cards, a rulebook, a scenario book, and a 20-sided die.
